Tom Otto
Maintenance Supervisor
Tom Otto joined the IFAS Facilities team on November 11, 2011, after spending 10 years with UF’s Facilities Services as an electrician. In his current role, he leads a team of 12 skilled trades professionals - eight refrigeration mechanics and four building mechanics - who are responsible for a wide range of maintenance and repair work across campus. Tom’s team works on systems such as walk-in coolers and freezers, greenhouse evaporative pad walls and their control systems, pumps, cooling towers, and more. They also handle general building maintenance, including drywall repair, painting, and ceiling tile replacement - supporting everything in between.
Under Tom’s leadership, the team is focused on meeting the needs of researchers and faculty by ensuring that facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. He is committed to providing the tools and support necessary for research success and to upholding the mission of IFAS.
